Since his early teenage years, Rev. Clay recognized his calling to ministry. At age 15, he served as a home bible study leader with Child Evangelist Fellowship, Inc. He also was a public speaker for many young groups in the church and community. Rev. Clay also served in numerous leadership roles at St. John Baptist Church. He was the youngest member to serve on the Mission Board at age 17 and the youngest member voted on the trustee board at 24 years old. Also at St. John, Rev. Clay served as the Young Adult Coordinator which started with 5 members and grew under his leadership to 75 members. He also co-founded the Voices of Inspiration Young Adult Choir, facilitated the Young Adult usher board, and established the Young Adult Fellowship.

Rev. Clay also serves as an example and leader in the community. In particular, Rev. Clay leverages his interest and skills in basketball as an opportunity to reach young men. He began coaching basketball in 1987 with the Columbia Basketball Association in Howard County coaching kids from age 8 through 18. Rev Clay also coached at Howard High School Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys Basketball Team in Columbia, MD.
Rev. Clay currently serves as a Christian counselor, marriage/relationship counselor, and bible study teacher for many adults and young adults in the community. He also he continues to serve as the Associate Minister at JCMPG. He is employed as the Manager for the Biology Department at Howard University.
Rev. Leonard Clay is blessed with four beautiful children Samantha Briana (Sammie) 22, Eric Alexander (Alex) 19, Montara Ashleigh (Moe Moe) 12, and Julian Leonard Montieth (Jules) 6. Rev. Clay loves his children and they accompany him to many of his speaking engagements and other activities he participates in.
But the most important thing Rev. Clay wants you to know about him is, he is a man that has a passion for the Lord and a compassion for God’s greatest creation (mankind). His ministry is founded on 1st Thessalonians 2:4 “But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which judges our hearts.” His theme to life is “faith does not excuse practical planning for your future, but every day you must be intentional to see the opportunities God presents to you.”
